Slim Down for Summer with That's Fit

SXSW: Saturday Parties Were Not to Be Missed!

On Saturday, Twitter was all the rage, even making it into panel jokes and discussions. If you needed something done, Twitter was the place to turn to. I think I received about 200 texts to my phone from just 15 friends. About mid-afternoon, I was getting tired and there wasn't a drop of Redbull in sight. A quick Tweet for help, and BarCampAustin came to the rescue. I was informed that not only did they have Redbull just a block over at Bourbon Rocks, but it was on them!

I arrived just in time to see Cube Linden taking the stage for his presentation about Second Life. During his speech, he mentioned flying penises, so Adri and I headed over to the sex shop about a block away. Once there, we purchased several inflatable phalluses to launch on stage. While in the restroom blowing them up, he ended his presentation. We were devastated, but not for long. We had plenty of drinking to do...

After a quick detox in my hotel room, I headed back to Bourbon Rocks, where the night-time festivities were just beginning. The MCs for the Bar Camp Austin party let everyone know that the bar tabs weren't being used up to their liking, so they should Twitter their friends to come drink for free. We happily obliged on both counts.

In the patio area, Kyle Machulis, teledildonics expert, decided to show us some of his new toys. Second Lifers came out of the woodwork to watch the demonstration, although he lacked some of the pieces to make the bowling pin vibrate.

The highlight was when he shared with us his NueTube single-use sex toys, which can be bought in single or 24 packs. They come individually wrapped, with two ends. One cannot describe the drunken novel joy of unwrapping the tube and taking it around to friends.

When the free drinks ran out at Bar Camp Austin, we were informed of a party "just down the street" at Molotov. After what seemed like a mile, we finally arrived at our destination. While there, I ran into Zero Grace, of Clickable Culture, whom reluctantly agreed to be my camera man. We waited in line for about five minutes for Ze Frank to finger the tube. Fear not, for I was generous and gave him the non-lubed side.

After that, I was approached by the kissing bandit, whom I'll discuss in another post. Spin Martin was off to the 8-bit party for Rocketboom with some other friends while Adri and Peter decided to head back to San Antonio. After briefly pondering my next move, I spotted Max Case on the second floor of the bar. We ended up cabbing it over to the Rocketboom party to finish off the night.

Upon arrival, we ran into Walker Spaight and Adam Reuters at the bar. To my shock, they didn't serve hard liquor there! Before I left for SXSW, Spin Martin had told me that one of the people I must meet was John Halcyon Styn, of Pinkgasm (Not Safe For Work) and CockyBastard. I approached him and he was very friendly, insisting that we take a picture together. When I asked Spin to take a picture of the Second Life gang, Hamlet licked me for the second time. The first time occurred at SLCC 2006.

As the party progressed, the music got older and more new wave. I noticed that people were on stage bopping around, so I grabbed Hamlet and we danced to "I'll Stop the World and Melt With You." Everyone should have a classic 80s moment once in their lives. I highly recommend it. With nothing left to accomplish for the night, it was off to the hotel to rest up for another day of panels and partying.
